The name GTO stands for Gran Turismo Omologata—a nod to the classic, high-performance sports cars of the '50s, '60s, and '70s. Dr. Rodriguez chose this name because his cigars are designed to be definitive, time-tested examples of a classic fine smoke. The Rodriguez family has been cultivating premium first-generation Cuban-seed tobacco (Piloto Cubano) for decades in the fertile, volcanic soils of the Valle del Cibao, the premier tobacco heartland of the Dominican Republic.
